Head Brewer Position

Location:Thirsty Pagan Brewing, Superior Wisconsin

Requirements for the Head Brewer position are as follows…

Must be willing to relocate to the Superior WI/Duluth MN area.

Our Head Brewer must be able to manage a Lead Brewer and two assistant brewers as well as exchange their knowledge with other brewery staff.

As Head brewer you will be expected to forecast batches of house beers & develop recipes for seasonal beers based on the time of year.  In conjunction, you must be able to order grains/hops that correspond to the recipe and seasonal beers you will be producing.  

At Thirsty Pagan, any applicant to Head Brewer must have at least 4 years’ experience in a brewpub or production brewery.  Any applicant must also have proven education from a brewing institute or like condition.  

You must have knowledge of the workings of pumps, Glycol systems, refrigeration, barrel aging, sour beers/blending, and be able to display the ability to detect off flavors and what causes them.

References will be checked and must be provided before any interviews take place. 

A sense of humor and jocularity a must. 

This is a salaried position that will be negotiated based on experience.

 Assistant Brewer Position

Thirsty Pagan Brewing, Superior Wisconsin.

Applications will be taken between June 21st and July 21st.  

Interviews will be ongoing.  Position requirements are as follows.

Any potential candidate must be able to perform or satisfy the following….

Have two or more years work experience in a professional brewery

A sense of humor and excellent communication skills

An understanding of cause & effect in a brewery 

Willingness to learn the flow of our brewery 

Blending experience with oak aged barrels – Sour beers

Minimum of a 2 year Associates Degree

Brewing Certificates regarding Education Cicerone Certified

The ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
